The Art of Playful Learning

For the renowned TV show "How It's Made" on NTV, we developed a series of animated explainer segments focused on breaking down complex manufacturing processes in a didactic, fluid, and highly entertaining way.

The Narrative Challenge

The central objective was to teach the audience the process behind the creation of everyday objects, food production, and the transformation of repurposed items. The technical challenge of this type of piece lies in translating hard data and logical engineering chains into an accessible and stimulating language.

Today, animated pieces with an educational focus demand unique versatility, as they must natively coexist across multiple platforms and formats simultaneously, ranging from broadcast television to specialized e-learning platforms and immediate-consumption social media.

Methodology and Art Direction

1. Cut-Paper Aesthetic

To give the segment a unique identity, we opted for an art treatment with a cut-paper look. This technique brings an organic and tactile dimension that connects directly with the concept of manual and artisanal manufacturing.

2. Multi-Format Animation

We developed a compositing workflow designed from its origin to adapt to horizontal broadcast framing and dynamic vertical formats for mobile platforms, optimizing student retention and engagement.

3. Pedagogical Pacing

Every transition, breakdown, and camera movement was meticulously calibrated to balance the injection of hard data with fluid visual rests, ensuring the content is comprehensible for audiences of all ages.
