Levita Magnetics | Silicon Valley

MARS Robotic Platform

We were commissioned to create an animation simulating the use of the Advancing Minimally Invasive Surgery (MARS) robotic platform, developed in Silicon Valley, San Francisco (USA).

The Challenge

The main challenge was to visually and realistically demonstrate the implementation and use of the surgical robot in a highly didactic manner. It was essential to show how the magnetic system creates retraction, pushing or pulling organs once a laparoscopic grasper is installed.

We had to illustrate how manipulating the magnet from outside creates more space within the thoracic cavity to perform the operation with greater efficiency, clearly demonstrating that this entire process is carried out by a robotic arm remotely directed by the surgeon.

Precision and Technical Execution

1. Multiple Surgical Simulations

We didn't just stop at a generic demonstration; we developed detailed animations for specific procedures, highlighting a laparoscopic cholecystectomy and a laparoscopic prostatectomy.

2. Modeling and Animation in Maya

To achieve the highest level of technical and anatomical precision demanded by the medical field, all modeling of organs, instruments, and the MARS robotic arm was executed using Autodesk Maya, ensuring realistic mechanical movements.

3. Photorealistic Rendering

The final finish and volumetric lighting—vital for conveying the texture of tissues and surgical materials—were calculated and fully rendered using the V-Ray engine, achieving a world-class visual impact for Silicon Valley standards.
